Stephan Würth is one of our favourite photographers in the world. Stephan was born in Germany and grew up between Munich, Texas and California. He now spends most of his time in the USA and shoots fashion and portraits.
He discovered photography aged fourteen during a family holiday to coastal Spain. His favorite subjects were sun-bathing women on the Costa del Sol and he came home with images spurring him to keep shooting. In 2000, he enrolled in the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale to study photography, and after graduating, became a full time photographer working allover the world.
Since then, his work has been featured in international editions of Vogue, The New York Times, Porter Magazine, GQ, Playboy, Esquire, Galore Magazine, Treats Magazine and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition among others.
Würth currently splits his time between New York City's and Miami with his wife.

Shot in Miami in 2016. Have been going back to basics shooting film and with little hair and makeup and we lucked out with the weather- we had full sun that made the colors amazing and she looks absolutely beautiful.
Shot 12 years ago (2005) in Canouan Island. This was one of the first times I got to shoot a big model and this shot was taken after we had gotten our shot. She was full of energy and really playful and has the best legs I have ever seen. This has been the screensaver image on my phone from the very first day that I got the very first iphone model on the first day they were being sold.
Shot in Malibu in 2007. I shot Marisa a few times and always loved her sweetness and perfect body. This was shot for British GQ and has always gotten a lot of praise from my male friends.
Hassan with tennis racquet on clay court.
This was also shot in Marrakesh in 2010. I am a huge tennis fan and this kickstarted my tennis project that I am currently working on.
Motel room with desert view and crooked lampshade.
Shot in 2012 in Barstow, CA. This image is one of my West series which I have been working on for several years. I moved to California in the 70s from Germany when I was 7 years old and ever since I have been fascinated with the American southwest. I love the shades of grey in this image. I plan to publish a book on this project soon.
Motel on Biscayne Blvd with two palm trees.
This was shot in Miami on film with my Leica in 2009. I had just gotten my Leica for Christmas 2008 which changed my world. I was working on a story with my friend and collaborator Lesley MM Blume (also a contributor to Ghost Town) about the changing face of Miami and the state of the art deco hotels on Biscayne Blvd.
Shot in a desert town in California for Treats Magazine in 2014. Shot this with film and my Leica. Tereza is the most free person I have ever shot. This was just myself, Tereza, my friend Karen who is a stylist and we had so much fun. These are my favorite types of days: little crew, no attitudes and free and fun people.
Shot in Jamaica in 2007. We had just finished a shot in the ocean. Ale came out soaking wet and I just put her in front of this black bacground. I think this is the most timeless and beautiful image I have shot of a model. A 30x40 print is on the wall at my parents’ house.
Shot in NYC in 2011 in Chinatown for Treats Magazine. We shot this at a cheap karaoke bar. The story was about a depressed alcoholic girl wandering around the city, mostly naked, in the middle of the night. I love the feel of the seedy-ness of the karaoke bar mixed with the bright colors.
Man with dog on moped.
This was shot in Marrakesh in November 2010. In 2010, I really started getting into shooting more personal pictures with my Leica (and film). This is my favorite picture I have ever taken. Since then, I have really started to focus on a lot of my own personal work shot with my Leica and film and I have a few book projects to come all shot with my Leica.
